In 1899, Austrian-born industrialist Ludwig Hatschek invented the process for creating asbestos cement, and eight years later Keasby & Mattison (K&M) became one of the first companies to produce corrugated asbestos sheets under Hatschek’s U.S. patent.
Other venues to have bands – yes, there were many of them – included the Four Aces (opposite the Central Hotel), the Village (on the corner of Metropole), Mehran Hotel, the Midway House (at the airport) and even the Grand Hotel in Malir (weekends only). These were the regular gigs aspiring musicians worked towards and along the way, got to play at all the other events when available.
I prefer to work with engineers who specialize in residential work because they’re in touch with the best practices and the nuances of wood framing. Many other structural engineers work primarily with structural steel and concrete and may not give you the absolute best advice to get excellent results for the lowest investment of time and money.
Unless you have a standing-seam metal roof, the mounting system will use bolts similar to this. To prevent water damage, the bolt fixture will be surrounded by flashing, which is a special metal or plastic shield that slips under the surrounding roofing tiles to prevent water from getting in. The flashing will be sealed with tar or underlayment, and the bolt hole will be filled with long-life sealant, as well.
Yeah, this… Once you have realised that all major screw types (including woodscrews) are available in Torx and that torx screws require no axial force on screwing (or more importantly, unscrewing) using anything else seems ridiculous. Both for power and handtool use, anything smaller than M6 should be torx, anything larger either hex head or socket head.
There are a number of different types of military-grade hardware available, including a wide range of screws and fasteners. Common varieties are mil-spec bolts, machine screws, nuts, self-tapping screws, sockets, and washers, each of which satisfy different requirements.
I always found ATI cards work better for me (HTPC setups – I am not a gamer), however even I am not a "fanboi", so I can easily see Charlie’s strong bias. It is not that he makes up facts, as far as I have seen, he bases his articles on information that turns out to be true or mostly true. However, he blows things way out of proportion, and his sarcastic style of writing is most definitely not proper for journalistic use.
Hi David: I am about to install a 4 kw solar Do it yourself system. I have done lots of reaserch and i would like to use the pro solar fast jacks for mounting to our s-curve concrete tile roof . I under stand about removing the tile and mounting the fastjacks to the rafters and then sealing , but what is the best way to do the flashing,, do you drill a 1″ hole in the concrete tile and then use metal flashing,, thanks for your help Randy
This discussion is not intended to imply that compressive yield (commonly referred to as embedment) should be avoided at all times. In many instances, the reduction in clamp load required to prevent embedment would be more detrimental to reliability than the relaxation caused by yield of high-stress areas. I’m only suggesting that this is an area that deserves more attention, through preliminary calculation and subsequent testing.
Many important considerations in bolted joint development are often overlooked. While estimating the bolt tension achieved for a given tightening strategy is certainly a common focus, the effect of load on joint components is less fully discussed and understood.
In 2002, Lintas was bought over by Lowe & Rauf and R-Lintas became Lowe & Rauf. In 2016, Lowe affiliated with Mullen (an American advertising agency) and Lowe & Rauf became MullenLowe Rauf.
THERE IS NO COMPARISON BETWEEN THE BREMBO BRAKES ON THE KTM 350SXF AND HUSKY FC350 TO ANYTHING THAT COMES STOCK ON A JAPANESE-BUILT BIKE. Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki seem to have taken a trip in the Hot Tub Time Machine to get the brakes for their bikes. How could they not compare what they have to what Brembo has and not have alarms go off at Nissin. Brembo’s brakes are incredible. Nissin brakes are something Barney Rubble would use. But, when analyzing the Brembos on a Husky and the Brembos on a KTM, the differences come down to the brake rotors. The rotors on the KTM 350SXF are from Braking. They are light and thin. The Husky’s GSK rotors are more durable. They are thicker and heavier. We guess Husqvarna felt that the sturdier GSK rotors were better for Husky’s offroad bikes.
