The introduction of colour in 1976 was a major boom driver for TV commercials. Within a few years, an average of six hours of programming was aired, two of which were in colour. As far as penetration was concerned, in 1964 it amounted to a mere nine percent; by 1978 it reached 72.5% with at least a million sets in place, making TV a truly ‘mass medium’.

• Varying visual displays (electronic models only) give you some choice in how you want to “see” the stud. Some electronic stud finders let you preview a digital map of the stud beneath the wall on an LED screen, others feature LED lights across the top that blink when the finder is passed over a stud—both provide a reliable way to pinpoint a stud.
They look like some of the flattop panheads that I’ve got around here. The tops of these screws are like pancakes, flat top and bottom with slightly rounded sides. They look exactly like that. I’ve got some in both 6-32 and 3mm.
Screw heads were initially all slotted. This isn’t 100 percent historically accurate, but when it comes to understanding why the set at the big box store contains the drivers it does, it helps. (There were a lot of square headed screws back in the day, we still use them, but not as much.)

The width or diameter of the nut also plays a part in its load capacity. Figure 6 shows the nut threads expanding away from the screw as mating threads slide relative to one another radially. This reduction in thread engagement, and therefore load capacity, is a function of the nut member’s stiffness in the radial direction. Width across the flats of standard nuts is about 1.5 to 1.6 times the nominal thread diameter. This is actually a compromise between strength and size, as a ratio of nearly 2-to-1 is required to eliminate dilation. Nuts are available in larger widths and lengths when required.
In addition to news bulletins, Radio Pakistan aired dramas and feature programmes which, according to A History of Radio Pakistan by Nihal Ahmad, centred on “nation building themes”, as well as “history, culture, the freedom struggle, crime detection and social issues.”
