Global standards can do more than just solve global problems—some have had a radical impact on economies. The most famous of these is likely ISO 6346: the standards for the humble shipping container. Before 1956, as noted in The Economist, goods were piled high on ships’ holds and crammed into empty nooks and crannies in wooden crates. Things regularly went missing, and companies’ losses due to theft were high. The introduction of uniform metal containers that year sent the price of shipping plummeting, as companies wasted far less time loading and unloading—picking up a box, even a really, really big one, is much quicker than trying to unpack hundreds of miscellaneous wooden crates of every which size. In the late 1960s, the ISO published an initial shipping container standard that made things even more straightforward.

The impact of the CPRP is critical. It can determine the fate of an account, a bonus payment, the longevity of the business and whether the performance targets stipulated in a contract have been met or not. (Think about the difference it makes whether TV audiences are bought at $200 per rating point or at $250 per rating point).

Thanks for the link – interesting. It seems the graphic on the linked page shows an example of a two-start insert tool. It seems the first and second cut tool vees are of different height, perhaps this for the first cut to be of lesser depth where the second cut is deeper to finish. But at the end of the insert tool travel, the first cut will never be completely deep enough. I guess this is OK if the finished mating part has some other means to stop further travel, but is not ideal IMO. I think each cut multi-start thread should end with the same thread depth. Perhaps a better implementation would be an insert cutting tool that has two vees offset by 180 degrees with the first following the second, and by extension a three-start having three vees offset by 120 degrees each following in insert travel one after the other. Hmmm…

So the selection of AOR agencies by multinational clients is based on regional or global agency alignment. The local agency affiliate is more execution or tactical focused. It is unlikely that this will change in the near future as multinationals are able to better synchronise and manage cost with globally or regionally aligned AORs.

This is actually a lot more common than you might think. Lots of tech shows (whether it’s cell phones, computer parts, etc) bring "fake" models in. Sometimes it’s just the production case with weights in. Sometimes, when a device needs to be outputting video, what you see is just a movie being played as opposed to its actual output.

Some valve stems have a tab on the body of the valve that can help in the alignment of the sensor. For most applications, the rubber bulb of the valve should be resting against the rim and the sensor body should not be touching the rim.
